Zayn Little Caesars Arena Concert reviews
Overall great, but room for improvement
The venue was good, but I was slightly disappointed by the opening act. When I bought the tickets, Billy Idol was supposed to open in Detroit in March, and Toto was set to open in Grand Rapids in May. I chose Detroit over GR based solely on who was supposed to open. As to Zayn, their set truly showcased their musical genius and was awesome. No complaints about LCA other than the typically inflated prices of both food and merch. Toto delivered an awesome live set, but I paid to see the show at this venue intentionally so that I could catch Billy Idol for the first time. I love these guys, but I had two issues with the show. You couldn't hear Arnel, and they played Don't Stop Believin' 3rd in the set. Did anyone tell the band how much that song means to the city of Detroit - especially to the Red Wings? Did they know and not care? The show was in the Red Wings home arena! It's like going to Fenway Park and playing Sweet Caroline during warm-ups! Don't get me wrong, Journey songs are still vocalist-driven. Neil's guitar completely cancelled him out. I know Neil is the lone remaining founding member, but you couldn't actually hear it. You could SEE Arnel putting out maximum effort, but I had two issues with the show. 1. 2. Huge missed opportunity. Did you notice that 1000's of people left early? That would not have happened if the band saved DSB for the closer - nobody would have left the arena without hearing that one live.
